The Air Jordan 5 released in 1990. With the Jordan Brand already being an established powerhouse from the previous 4 years, the Jordan line was more coveted than ever. The Jordan 3 & 4 were going to be hard acts to follow. Tinker Hatfield who designed the Jordan 3 & 4 kept at it for Jordan Brand for the creation of the Jordan V. The main design inspiration was the mean look of the iconic World War II era fighter planes painted to look like a shark - hence the zig-zagging tooth-like midsole detail. They released for a whopping $125 retail ticket.
