Step Back in Time

Even though this design is over 20 years old, it still maintains its futuristic style. The Nike Air Vapormax Plus is an update of the 1998 Nike Air Max. Originally inspired by the way ocean waters move in Florida, the 1998 Nike Air Max is all about unique features. Nike Air Vapormax Plus continues the design legacy with wavy details meant to mimic swaying palm trees.
European Design
Senior Nike Footwear Designer, Tom Minami, says this update was a challenge, but “without any midsole or sockliner, you get to feel the Air in a whole new way.” In original Air Max trainers, the sole was expanded with Air, but with the VaporMax, Air efficiency is the focus. This new engineering allows for superior bounce and an elevated stride.
