Bottega Veneta has a long and fruitful history of leather weaving. The brand was founded in 1966 in Vincenza, a location known for its ready-to-wear, and since the sewing machines there were designed for cloth, the brand had to use extremely fine leather to fit under the needle. This led to the development of its Intrecciato weaving, which made its fine leather stronger and more durable – a feat that’s seen the technique become a signature of the brand today.
