Della Vite Prosecco is the first joint venture between Chloe, Poppy and Cara Delevingne. As you can imagine, it’s daring, it’s dazzling, it’s elegant and it’s not afraid to let its hair down. The three Delevingne sisters noticed that many of their happiest, freest-feeling and most spontaneous moments – family get-togethers, long lunches with friends, fashion shows, festivals, parties and celebrations – all featured a glass of Prosecco in hand. Even their family name suggests that these three were born from the vine to create their own wine… So that’s exactly what they did. Della Vite Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore has been awarded DOCG status – the highest classification for wine in Italy. It’s crafted using handpicked grapes grown high in the valley on steep, stony, glacial soils. This imparts a vibrancy, minerality and mountain freshness to this extra dry Prosecco. But for Prosecco, this is remarkably rich. It almost reminded us of Veuve Clicquot Champagne with its creamy mousse and hints of tropical fruit, ripe pear, crunchy apple, chamomile, wildflowers, gewürztraminer jelly, toasted sourdough bread, crostini and almond biscotti. That subtle autolytic character – the bakery nuances normally associated with Champagne – and the fine bubbles occur because the wine receives an extended second fermentation period of around 60 days, which is much longer than most Prosecco, allowing it to take on some of that yeasty flavour and rich creaminess. Understanding that most of the finest Prosecco never leaves Italy, the Delevingne sisters travelled to the heart of the Valdobbiadene Valley, where they were introduced to the husband and wife team of Carlo and Adriana Biasiotto. Here in a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Biasiotto family have been creating exceptional sparkling wine for three generations. And they do so very sustainably. Their Foss Marai winery is powered by solar panels, their processes favour a slow hands-on approach over the rush of machinery, and their wines are not fined with animal products, making them vegan friendly. All of which made the wines a perfect fit for Chloe, Poppy and Cara’s tastes, sensibilities and shared love of Italian culture. As a finishing touch, the Prosecco is filled into a timelessly stylish label-free bottle, with a unique silhouette and ‘Della Vite’ – meaning ‘from the vine’ – written in Poppy Delevingne’s own cursive script.
