The Air Jordan 4 was first teased on the cover of Sports Illustrated in the the “Black Cement” & “White Cement” color ways. The Sneaker made its much anticipated debut at the 1989 NBA All-Star Game on the feet of Michael Jordan. Not too long after the shoe was released to the public at a retail price of $110. Along with the “Air Jordan 3” Tinker Hatfield also designed the Air Jordan 4’s. He added a molded layer of urethane-coated mesh, with the idea of making it more breathable. The most salient design choice, however, was the iconic ‘wings’, allowing the wearer to customize their Jordans with 18 different lacing options.
