The Belgian beer landscape would not be what it is today without the stunning Bourgogne des Flandres. This Flemish classic is made at the oldest Lambic brewery in the world using a blend of old and young beer. Matured for many months in wooden barrels, this red-brown ale achieves that perfect balance of sweet and sour. Bourgogne des Flandres is a red ale with a rich, creamy finish. It was made by mixing a top-fermented, authentic, Flemish Brown Ale called Bruinen Os with a spontaneously fermented Lambic beer made in an open mash tub at Timmermans Brewery. It pours with a creamy foam, and it hits the palate with a malty thwack of sour berries, dark fruit, red wine and spices. To totally miss-quote The Simpsons: “stupid sexy Flandres”.
